UrgentVet is a privately-held company based in Tampa, Florida, United States. Owned by American Veterinary Group (AVG), UrgentVet operates veterinary clinics specializing in acute pet care for minor injuries and mild illnesses after hours.[1][2][3]

History[edit]

UrgentVet was founded in 2015 by Dr. Jim Dobies, a graduate of Ohio State University, as an urgent care for pets.[4][5] The company has its headquarter in Charlotte, North Carolina and currently has 17 locations in three states: Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina.[6][7] The concept of the company came about when Dobies received complaints from clients who were dissatisfied with the after-hours vet choices while working as a general practitioner.[5]
