Utair Flight 595 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Moscow to Usinsk operated by Utair. On 9 February 2020, the Boeing 737-500 on route from Moscow Vnukovo Airport crashed while landing at Usinsk Airport. There were 94 passengers aboard and 6 crew. All passengers and crew survived the accident.[1][2]

Accident

The aircraft took off from Moscow's Vnukovo Airport at 06:59 UTC and landed at Usinsk about 09:20 UTC (12:20 LT).[3] The aircraft touched down about 15 meters ahead of the runway threshold and went through heaps of snow, which caused the two main gear struts to collapse.[4] The aircraft then skidded on its nose gear and belly to a standstill off the runway, which caused damage to a wing and resulted in a fuel spill. No fire broke out. Photos and videos from the scene show the evacuation via slides and overwing exits. According to official reports, all occupants evacuated the aircraft safely; however, there were claims of one or two injured passengers.[5][6]

Investigation

There are currently no investigation results available from Russia’s Federal Investigative Committee. Utair claims that an abrupt windshear is to blame for the accident.[7]
