V. Rajendrababu is a lawyer and former mayor of Kollam Municipal Corporation.[1] He is a CPI(M) politician from Kollam city. Rajendrababu became the mayor of Kollam Municipal Corporation in March 2010.
Rajendrababu is from Uliyakovil in Kollam city. He is the current elected representative from Uliyakovil East ward of Kollam Corporation. Rajendrababu is also a member of Public Works Standing Committee of Kollam Municipal Corporation.[2][3]
Early life[edit]
Like most of the CPI(M) politicians, Rajendrababu entered into active politics through Students' Federation of India. He was also elected as the chairman of the Kerala University Union.[4]
As the mayor of Kollam city[edit]
Rajendrababu became the mayor of Kollam followed by the removal of N. Padmalochanan from the post by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) after he attended a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh function in the city.[5] At that time, Rajendrababu was the elected member from Uliyakovil East ward. The mayor election's result was a shocking one for the Left Democratic Front as they lost four votes and his opponent Mr. Kattil of United Democratic Front, won one of them.[6][7]
