Valeria Purpura
Valeria Purpura is an Italian bioengineer.[1][2][3][4][5] She is a member of Sapienza University of Rome's Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine.[6][7][8] Her work specializes in extracellular matrices and regenerative medicine.[4][5][9][10]
Biography[edit]
Purpura received a Ph.D. in experimental medicine in 2012.[11] Her work includes regenerating the erogenous structures of the penis.[4][5][12][13]
Purpura's particular focus is regenerating of the male prepuce, particularly the erogenous areas of the frenulum, ridged band, and preputial mucosa.[1][3][4][5] Purpura, concurring with pathologists Kenneth McGrath and John Taylor, has argued that these preputial structures are the primary sensory structures of the human penis.[1][14][15]
She has additionally studied the molecular mechanisms involved in the variance of fibroblast and keratinocyte growth factors.[6]

In the United States, Purpura et al. developed an innovative, regenerative therapy to repair the lost foreskin through the development of biological, acellular scaffolds by using decellularized foreskin dermal matrices, which prove to be able to maintain a balance between cellular removal and the maintenance of structural, mechanical, and biological properties of the foreskin tissue.
