Van Romaine (born 7 September 1962) is an American drummer,[1] producer, and musical director.[2][3] His work included performances and collaborations with Nena, Enrique Iglesias, Naughty by Nature, and Bernie Worrell.[4][5][6][7]
Biography[edit]
Romaine was born on 7 September, 1962 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He attended the University of Miami, and he graduated from William Paterson University. Gary Chester was one of his mentors.[8]
In 1988 he landed his first important gig as a drummer with Blood, Sweat & Tears where he stayed until 1989, when he replaced Rod Morgenstein in the Steve Morse band.[9][10][3][11][12]
Romaine also worked as a musical director for german pop singer Nena, and for Enrique Iglesias.[13] Other than Dixie Dregs, Nena, and Enrique Iglesias, he worked with Deep Purple, Kansas, and Bernie Worrell.[14]

Romaine also worked as a musical director, and collaborator for German pop singer Nena, during her comeback.[13]
Enrique Iglesias (2001-present)[edit]
Romaine’s work with Enrique Iglesias began in 2001[15] when he accompanied Iglesias on the America: A Tribute to Heroes’ telethon. That same year, he began working as a full-time drummer for Iglesias. He recorded drums on Cuando Me Enamoro. Throughout his work with Iglesias, Romaine has gained acclaim for his integration of electronic and acoustic instrumentation in both live and studio performance.[16]
In 1991, Romaine was voted among the top five "Up & Coming Drummer" on the Modern Drummer magazine's readers poll.[17]
