Vaniya Agrawal
Vaniya Agrawal is the Indian-origin engineer and former Microsoft employee who, on March 4, 2025, protested before the company's major figures—including Bill Gates and Satya Nadella—against Microsoft's technology being allegedly deployed in the Israeli military in West Asia.[1][2]
The event was widely covered in India, a number of whose nationals are employed in Microsoft.[3][4][5][6] It also featured in the business press in India.[7][8][9][10]
Democracy Now quoted Agrawal as saying that "Microsoft’s cloud and AI are the bombs and bullets of the 21st century".[11] It reported that two women workers, Agrawal and former Microsoft software engineer Ibtihal Aboussad, "protested after leaked documents revealed that Microsoft supplies the Israeli military with AI and cloud technology, as well as an Air Force unit known as the Ofek, to build 'kill lists'.”[11] She was described as a No Azure for Apartheid organizer and a former Microsoft employee fired after disrupting the April 4, 2025 discussion between current and former Microsoft CEOs, including Bill Gates.”[11]
