Vasan Eye Care is a network of eye hospitals in India, headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The group operates over 150 super speciality eye care centres across southern India, including the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.[1] The network comprises more than 500 eye care professionals and over 5,000 healthcare staff.[2]
Overview
Founded with the vision of making high-quality eye care accessible regardless of geographical or economic constraints, Vasan Eye Care has established a significant presence in the southern region of India. The network integrates modern diagnostic and surgical technologies with a patient-centric approach to care.
Acquisition by ASG Eye Hospitals
In early 2023, Vasan Eye Care was acquired by ASG Eye Hospitals,[3] a national chain of eye specialty hospitals based in Jaipur. The acquisition was completed following the approval of a ₹526 crore resolution plan by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).[4] As part of the agreement, ASG Eye Hospitals took over operational control of the Vasan Eye Care network while allowing it to continue functioning as an independent brand within the ASG umbrella.[5]
The consolidated network aims to leverage shared resources, clinical expertise, and technological infrastructure to expand access to eye care services across India.
Leadership
The combined entity is headed by Dr. Arun Singhvi, an ophthalmic surgeon with specialization in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgeries including LASIK, ICL, and Bioptics. Dr. Singhvi is a graduate of Jodhpur Medical College and completed his post-graduation at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.[6] With over 50,000 cataract and 18,000 LASIK procedures performed, Dr. Singhvi is recognized as a leading phaco and refractive surgeon in India.
