Ved Prakash Gupta is an Educationist and the founder of Bazm-e-Khas.[1][2][3]

Early life and education[edit]

He attended school and college in Delhi. Most of his education took place through evening colleges, and he undertook lot of teaching work in the early years of his career by way of private tuitions and teaching in private colleges. The other most important influence on his mind from early childhood was that of his mother who was a Hindustani classical singer besides being a housewife. So, through a process of osmosis, Gupta acquired a liking for Hindustani classical and good folk music on account of the atmosphere at home.[4]

Career[edit]

Presently, Gupta is the Chairperson of Rau’s IAS Study Circle. He has appeared on almost all national television news channels as a celebrated domain expert in the field of IAS education / training for the civil service exam. He has conducted a lot of seminars for students appearing in civil service exam, in various cities of India. Building India was one such key initiative.[5][6][7][8]

He also founded Bazm-e-Khas, an organisation that promotes Hindustani classical music for serious listeners and students rehearsing this genre. He takes keen interest in sound design and encourages numerous music related bodies working in Delhi and Mumbai. Gupta maintains that his activities in music are guided by a deep belief in the idea that music is not only a means of entertainment or de-stressing, but a therapy for most ailments that afflict mankind. Notably, the Bazm-e-Khas channel on YouTube maintains a significant amount of archived music produced under the banner of this organisation. Besides this, Gupta regularly contributes to social causes as a part of his philanthropic activities.[9][10][11]

Gupta rose to his present position in Rau’s IAS Study Circle from that of a secretary and part-time constitutional law teacher in 1972. This institute is considered among the top institutes in India preparing students for the job of senior bureaucrats, who occupy the positions of IAS / IPS / IFS / IRS in Govt. of India.[12]

Personal life[edit]

Ved Prakash Gupta is married to Krishna Gupta who is a hobbyist horticulturist, and an active enthusiast in environmental efforts in Delhi. He has a son, Vipul Ved Prakash, who lives in San Francisco and is a famous software engineer. He has a daughter, Vrinda Gupta, who is a senior economist with a major international consultancy firm in the field of economics.[13]

Published Articles[edit]

Gupta has been writing a very popular column every month in Compition Success Review which is the largest english monthly magazine by circulation in India. He is writing this column for more than 10 years on most debated themes in the India with a pan-India vision.[14]
