    Vent Pro is a Timeline-based video editing software package for non-linear editing (NLE), originally published by EdVi, and now by INDEX Development. The software runs on the Windows operating system. Originally developed as Color grading software, it eventually developed into an NLE for video and audio from version 1.7.

    Vent Pro features real-time multitrack video and audio editing on limited tracks, basic transitions, chroma key, text, images, and basic effects. On January 13, 2017, EdVi announced that it had sold Vent to INDEX Development, who would continue supporting and developing the software.[1]

    Requirements

    Minimum: Vent requires an Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 Graphics Card or more to run, 16GB of RAM, 2GB GPU, and Quad Core CPU.

    Maximum: Vent requires an GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Graphics Card or more to run, 16.8TB of RAM, 312GB GPU, and AMD Ryzen 9 3950X CPU.[2]

    Vent beta

    Soup Foundry introduced a sneak preview version of Vent Pro on September 14, 2009. It was a color program.

    Vent 1.0

    Released on November 1, 2009, Vent was a color-only tool that was used to make minor edits.[3]

    Vent Video Editor beta (Vent 1.7 beta)

    Released on January 10, 2010, the first version of Vent to have video editing accepted.

    Vent Video Editor (Vent 1.7)

    Released on January 31, 2010.

    Vent Video Editor NLE 1.7.1 (never released)

    Released on May 1, 2010, the first version of Vent to be a non-linear system.[4]

    Vent Video Editor NLE 1.8

    Released on July 3, 2010. This release offered:

    • Video Rendering - Export videos up to HD.
    • Audio Waveforms - added RMS audio waveforms to audio clips.

    Vent Video Editor NLE 1.9

    Released on December 31, 2011. This release only includes:

    • DirectX® is now required
    • New Icon (camera icon)

    Downhill

    The company started to work on a brand new update which would make the Software more useful, but they started to lose people and people wanted a refund, so the company stopped working on updates until 2017.

    Vent Pro 1.0 (Stable update)

    Released on January 14, 2017, the first professional version of Vent is out, and also the first version of Vent to be owned by INDEX. It included these updates:

    • Video Rendering up to 4K
    • Change video and audio track icons
    • Made effects, audio, effects, text, and transitions in separate tracks
    • Replaced audio waveforms with orange speaker icon (more stable)

    Vent Pro 2020.1

    Released on December 2, 2020, the latest version of Vent Pro included these updates:

    • DirectX 10 Required
    • Message box appears before stopping or playback for program monitor
    • Video Rendering Up to 16K
