Viedoc Technologies AB (commonly known as Viedoc) is a privately held Swedish company that develops tools for managing clinical trials. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Uppsala, Sweden, the company provides eClinical tools used by life science organizations to support trial operations, data capture, and regulatory compliance. Since 2019, Viedoc has been majority-owned by the Nordic private equity firm, Monterro.[1].

History

Viedoc was established by clinical research and software professionals. The company initially operated as a contract research organization (CRO) before shifting to a software-focused model in 2005 with the launch of its electronic data capture (EDC) solution.

By 2018, the company had exited its CRO business to develop a cloud-based platform for clinical research. On 11th November 2019, Monterro acquired a majority stake in the company.[2]

Global Presence

Viedoc reports to have offices in: Sweden (headquarters), Japan, China, United States and, Vietnam.

As of 2025, the company employs approximately 140 people worldwide.

Use in Research

Viedoc’s solutions have supported clinical trials across more than 75 countries, including:

  • The ANeED study – ambroxol in new and early dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB): protocol for a phase IIa multicentre, randomised, double-blinded and placebo-controlled trial[3]
  • Exploratory, multicenter, open-label study to evaluate the effects of linaclotide in patients with chronic constipation with an insufficient response to magnesium oxide: A study protocol[4]
  • Confirmatory trial of the effectiveness and safety of palliative arterial embolization for painful bone metastases[5]

Partnerships

On July 2, 2025, Viedoc announced a technical integration partnership with PHARMASEAL.[7] Additional strategic partnerships include collaborations with Arkivum, a provider of data archiving solutions[8], and Link Medical[9], a full-service contract research organization (CRO).

Recognition

In 2024 the analyst firm Everest Group listed Viedoc in the ‘Leader’ category in their Life Sciences Electronic Data Capture (EDC) Products PEAK Matrix® Assessment 2024[10]. This assessment evaluated 20 EDC platform providers based on their capabilities and market impact.

Ownership

Viedoc Technologies AB is majority-owned by Monterro, a Stockholm-based private equity firm. Grev Ture Investments AB, which is part of Monterro, is the legal parent entity.
