Vietnamese idol

The Vietnamese pop music industry has seen the appeareance of two waves of idols and idol groups. Idols are primarily singers and usually as a member of a group , and rarely solo acts and are highly influenced by Korean and Japanese Idol culture. Unlike other artist in Vietnam, idols are promoted through merchandise and endorsements by talent agencies while maintaining an almost prefect public image and wide social media presence, as well a strong emotional connection with a passionate fan base through concerts and meetups.[1][original research?]

During the 2000s and 2010s, C-pop, K-pop and J-pop had already started to spread to the Western world. K-pop had already spread to South East Asia and it was a big influence for the Vietnamese entertainment industry.[citation needed]
Vietnamese bands began to include many of the K-pop, C-pop traits that made it popular including its fashion, choreography, instruments, etc. However, overseas sales have not rapidly increased as hoped. The ones following the Kpop trend are UNI5, LIP B, MONSTAR and LIME.[citation needed]
The Japanese franchise AKB48 decided to expand into the country in 2018, giving birth to SGO48.[2]
