Vikram Shankar (born 17 December 1980) is an Indian director and producer who is known for his work in the Indian film and television industry. His first film, as a producer was Naya Pata[1] was released on 27 June 2014.

Vikram's directorial career consists of film '1920: Evil Returns' in 2012 as chief Assistant Director and upcoming situational comedy Jab tum Kaho (2016)[2] which he eventually produced with Rajiv Kumar starring Ambalika Sarkar,[3] Shirin Guha[4] and Parvin Dabas.[5] In the television industry, he is known for his directorial work in Mahavir Hanuman (2012).[1]

Television career[edit]

As a program producer at Zee News for Kaal Kapal Mahakal , Vikram paved his way in the industry with his work showcase. He worked for a short period and as things changed, Vikram packed up for Mumbai wherein he worked under many directors in assistant role Later on, Mr.Siddharth Kak saw his potential and offered him Mano Ya Na Mano Season 1 (2006) as Chief Assistant Director, Vikram played well and proved that he can handle the show which eventually landed him with Mano Ya Na Mano Season 2 (2010), the second season of the series. He also did Shabaash India [6] and Alladin (2007) [7] as second unit director.

Filmmaking career[edit]

Starting with ASA Productions and Enterprises Pvt. Ltd[8], Vikram made his debut as Chief Assistant Director for thriller sequel 1920: The Evil Returns(2012).[9]

In 2014,he started a company named Vaartul films[citation needed] (now Kalpatru Films[10]) to fund and support aspiring filmmakers. He financed Naya Pata (2014),[1] the movie which tried to capture the emotional insight of a person during migration. The movie did well in all Indian films festivals and was then selected for the exhibition in New York Film Festival.[11] He also financed regional films like Kannada film Aryan (2014)[12] starring Shiva Rajkumar.

In 2015, Vikram started as a full-fledged producer a regional category Kannada movie Manmohaka (2016)[13] starring Shiva Rajkumar which will be directed by Sunil Kumar.
