Viraganur is a neighbourhood in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India.[2] There is a tourist spot in Viraganur, namely Viraganur dam, which is about 8 km from Madurai main.[3][4] This dam was constructed and came into use in the year 1975.[5] Viraganur has one of the busiest roundabouts in Madurai, which is a junction of five roads.[6] Mother of Tamil actor Vadivelu lived in Viraganur.[7]
