Washington Gardner High School was a secondary school located in Albion, Michigan which served students in grades 9–12. It was a part of Albion Public Schools. Washington Gardner High School was the original site of Albion High School that opened in 1885. The school expanded twice adding, an east and west wing to the original central building in 1905 and 1922. The original Albion High School Central building was heavily damaged in 1926 after a fire that started in the school's basement, The newer East and West wings survived. In 1927, the school board decided to abandon any plans of restoring the fire damaged original central building and to demolish it and build a new building that would join the original schools expanded east and west wing into a single building. A new school building was constructed and incorporated the two original schools expanded wings to form a single Gothic Revival style building. The new school building was renamed in dedication to the former Security of State and Albon native Dr. Washington Garder on February 8, 1928. By the 1950s the school was overcrowded and by the late 1960s it was clear that a new high would need to be opened to house the overcrowded student body, and in 1971 Albion Senior High School opened. Washinton Gardner High School was renamed Washington Gardner Junior High and housed grades six to eight.
