Wes Aderhold (b. July 11, 1986) is an American artist based in New York City. [1] Aderhold is known for his deeply emotional and personal self-portraits.[2] Painting with what surrealists called "automatism"[3] his work examines physical and psychological tension. Aderhold is self-taught and used drawing as an escape for most of his life as a way to connect with his own identity and make sense of the world around him.[2]
Prior to his success as an artist Huffington Post called Aderhold 2016's "Entrepreneur To Keep an Eye On" for his self-illustrated greeting card company.[4]
