Winston Rider Mock (born May 3, 2004), known professionally as Winston Rider, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His musical talents and songwriting ability were acknowledged in December 2021 when he was selected by iHeart Radio and Z100 New York as the opening act for the 2021 Jingle Ball concert in New York City.[1][2][3] Rider performed live at the Z100 Jingle Ball - All Access Lounge at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on December 10, 2021, kicking off one of the biggest music events of the year. [3][4][5]

Z100 NY afternoon hosts Maxwell and Crystal discussed Rider’s musical influence of John Mayer and Mayer’s vocals, songwriting, and guitar playing as major influences on Rider as a musician.[3][6]

Rider has released two singles “Why Don’t You Go” (December 2021) and “Made for You” (December 2021) via digital download and streaming platforms.[7]

Early life and name origin

Winston Rider Mock was born on May 3, 2004, to Caroline and Bradley Mock, a healthcare entrepreneur. He was born and raised in Greenwich, CT. His interest in music began at 12 years old when he was given a guitar, and by the time he was 17, he had written and produced over 100 original songs.

The name Winston Rider is his given first and middle name.

Artistry

Growing up, Rider listened to John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rex Orange County, The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys, Wallows, Bread, and Jack Johnson. He cites these artists and others as core inspiration for his own music.

Personal Life

Winston Rider Mock was born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, and attends Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT. He has three sisters: Sutton, Sterling, and Summit. Rider is the first high school ambassador for Guitars 4 Vets, an organization dedicated to providing guitars and musical lessons to help veterans who are currently struggling with emotional and physical symptoms, including a large portion of those with PTSD.[8][9]
