Xêro Abbas (born December 1, 1962, in Qamişlo) is a well-known Kurdish musician who started his career with the album Xerîbo.
Biography
Xêro Abbas was born in 1962 in the city of Qamişlo in Western Kurdistan and completed elementary, middle, and high school.[1] Abbas immigrated to Germany in 1986 due to pressure from the Syrian regime and a lack of opportunities.[1] Thereafter, his interest in music increased. In 1989, he started his musical activities by joining Koma Berxwedan. In 1998, he published his first album called Xerîbo, which garnered great interest among the Kurds. Abbas performs concerts in various European cities.[1]
In 2002, he appeared on stage at the great Newroz of Diyarbakir, which was attended by about a million Kurds. After many years, he returned to the land of Kurdistan for the first time through this event, and on his return he kissed his land, an attitude that was welcomed by the people with great enthusiasm and love.[citation needed]
Abbas combines the classical style of Kurdish music with a modern base, and with this structure he creates a style that is both related to his own path and, at the same time, a modern style. This talent of Abbas strengthens both his position and his reputation.[citation needed]
