Xdinary Heroes (Hangul엑스디너리 히어로즈; RREkseudineori Hieorojeu) is a boy band under JYP Entertainment's sub-label, Studio J. The band officially debuted on December 6, 2021, with the digital single "Happy Death Day" which peaked at No. 12 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales days following its release. The band consists of six members: Gunil, Jungsu, Gaon, O.de, Jun Han and Jooyeon. All of the members are involved in writing, composing and producing the music of the band.

Their name is shortened form of "Extraordinary Heroes", meaning "anyone can become a hero." Their slogan is "We are all heroes."[1]

History[edit]

2021: Formation and debut with "Happy Death Day"[edit]

On November 1, JYP Entertainment released a teaser titled "Heroes are Coming" hinting a new group to debut.[2] A week later, on November 8, the logo and name of the group was revealed and the group's official social media accounts were launched.[3]

Jooyeon was officially announced as the group's first member, followed by O.de, Gaon, Jun Han, Jungsu, and Gunil from November 15–20. On November 22 - November 27, teasers have been released revealing the positions of the members. Jooyeon was shown playing the bass, followed by O.de playing the synthesizer on the 23rd, Gaon playing the electric guitar on the 24th, Jun Han playing the electric guitar on the 25th, Jungsu in the keyboard on November 26, and Gunil playing the drums on the 27th.

It was revealed that two members initially trained to be in a K-pop group, but later told they would be in a band.[4]

On December 6, Xdinary Heroes debuted with their digital single "Happy Death Day", and made the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart just six days after their debut at #12.[5]

2022: First comeback: Hello, World![edit]

On April 22, Xdinary Heroes hinted at their first-ever comeback by uploading a teaser titled "Xdinary Heroes Awakening".[6] On June 27, they released a new video entitled "How to enjoy ♭form with Xdinary Heroes". The next day, on June 28 at 12:06 AM KST, Xdinary Heroes announced their first-ever comeback with 'Hello, World!' an extended play to be released in July 20.[7] In the following days, a contents scheduler and an instrumental sampler were released. In July 8 - 13, teaser images for each member, meanwhile, in July 14, the teaser images for the group were unveiled. In July 20, the music video for the title track "Test Me" was released.[8] On the same day, the band also held a comeback showcase for the new album. In the said event, all songs in the album including their single "Happy Death Day" were performed. [9] The band also appeared in several music shows such as SBS' Inkigayo, MBC's Show! Music Core, and KBS' Music Bank. Furthermore, live clips of the band performing the songs from the album were also released. [10] On August 9, the band released a music video for the b-side "Strawberry Cake." [11]
