Matteo Chiarenza Santini, better known as Xquisite Korpse (stylised as XQSTKRPS) is a London-based electronic music producer, composer, and sound designer.

History

Xquisite Korpse emerged from the Italian rave and free party scene before becoming active within London’s techno and noise music communities. In 2025, he began releasing music under the name Xquisite Korpse, with Mirror Mask serving as his first release under the alias. The EP is a collection of music originally composed for the Nick Knight–directed fashion film Fantastic Toiles, alongside additional tracks not featured in the film.[1][2] Mirror Mask was released on 15 July 2025, featuring six tracks.[3][2]

In 2025, he was credited as a producer and co-writer on “Perfectly”, a single by English musician FKA twigs,[4] as well as a writer on “Childlike Things[5] released as part of her Eusexua project. Xquisite Korpse appeared in some of Twigs Instagram posts and stories around 2023 portraying him in the studio during the creation of the album, alongside Koreless and Johnny Leslie, or patching sounds on his modular synthesizer. He also appeared as one of the dancers in the Perfectly official music video directed by Jordan Hemingway.[6]

The production surrounding Eusexua was subsequently discussed in Sound on Sound in an article based on an interview with Koreless, which examined FKA twigs’ studio methods and listed Xquisite Korpse among the project’s credited collaborators while giving an overview of their process in the studio during the creation of the record.[7]

Alongside recorded music, Xquisite Korpse has composed music and sound design for fashion and visual media. He created the music and sound design for Fantastic Toiles, a fashion film produced by SHOWstudio under the direction of Nick Knight.[1] He has also composed music for fashion presentations, including a runway show by designer Soma Faitanin.[8]Additionally, he produced the music for the Spotify interview video Countdown To EUSEXUA: FKA twigs in Conversation w/ Imogen Heap, which counted down to the release of Eusexua; he is credited in the video description for the music for the unreleased track Eleven Rings.[9]

His work has been presented in live performance contexts, including appearances at London events and at The Eleven(2024), a performance based art exhibition hosted by Sotheby’s in their exhibition space, in connection with Eusexua-era performances covered by Wallpaper Magazine.[10] During the event, 11 dancers performed a routine of movements created by Twigs, accompanied by a live improvised soundtrack made by Matteo, who played a hardware instrument based liveset every day for approximately 7 hours a day, for 14 consecutive days.

Xquisite Korpse has also performed at Color Factory in London as part of an event organised by musician Eartheater, alongside Sega Bodega and Rainy Miller, while also playing other smaller-scale performances in the city including squat parties, underground raves and club nights.

Music and style

Xquisite Korpse’s work draws on electronic, techno, and noise traditions, while having a both hardware based and digital music making workflow, and tends to be rhythmically focused, even though some of the work released so far has been pretty flexible when it comes to melodic structures and compositions, ranging from kids choir (as heard on the last track of Mirror Mask) to noise walls and heavy sludgy percussive pieces(as found in SOMA). A lot of his sound are made by employing extreme sound manipulation, FM synthesis as well as a wide use of Ableton and Max/MSP. Chiarenza Santini is also quite fond of Elektron synthesizers and drum machines, which he used as his main tools during the production of Eusexua.[7]
