Mason Charles Napier (born October 2nd, 2008), known professionally as YS Drip is an American rapper and songwriter. He initially gained most of his following from the single “Hustle,” which became even more popular when “Shotta Flow 5” was released, and it was quickly brought to the attention of many that the NLE Choppa single featured the same beat as “Hustle”.
Early life
Napier was born in Lexington, Kentucky in October of 2008.
Napier grew up in Perry County, Kentucky and attended Chavies Elementary school from grades K-3, then Hazard Elementary in 4th grade, and Hazard Middle School in 5th. He started getting into trouble in 4th grade and began his interest in Rap music.
Career
He recorded his first song "News" under the name "Yung Da$h". He changed his name to "KY Drip" to represent his home state of Kentucky, and then to "YS Drip" in January of 2020. He is personal friends with his manager and former rapper Luke Vires, and they have recorded many songs together and even teased at releasing a duo album. He formed 3 Banz with Vires and another rapper in 2019; however, the group disbanded shortly after forming. He has made many collaborations with St. Louis rapper 48k Kashout, who is also managed by Vires. In January of 2020, he released "Hustle," which would gain a cult following among the release of Shotta Flow 5, which featured the same beat as Napier's single.
