Yacht Club Baku
Yacht clubs are usually defined as sports clubs related to yachting. Yacht clubs have shoreline that belongs exclusively to members of the club. Also they have premises where members can socialize in an informal setting. Yacht Club in Baku, a 5000 square meters complex, was built in 2004. It is located in the centre of the Bay of Baku, in the southern part of Absheron Peninsula. The Club is 25 kilometers away from the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. It offers new recreation centre in the sea.
Architecture of the building[edit]
The main part of Baku Yacht Club is building consisting of 4 floors. Pier which was constructed using steel, wood and glass, connects the Yacht Club to the mainland. Appearance of the Club resembles a yacht and wings of a seagull. Quay is followed by the clubhouse. Reception, meeting room, restaurant and managements offices are located there. Members of the club have access to lounge, fitness centre, game room and sea-front pool. Hotel with 40 rooms and 2 restaurants are situated on the second and third floors. Fourth floor is reserved only for members of the club and consists of meeting rooms and roof-garden. Sailing school and exhibition areas are located on the ground floor. Baku Yacht Club design features sustainability, because photovoltaic cells and solar panels have been used in the construction. In addition, cooling system which uses seawater has been implemented. Large windows reflect nautical concept of the building. Yacht Club Baku offers view over the city. [1]
Functions of the club[edit]
Yacht Club Baku functions as a hotel, restaurant and boat rental. It started functioning as a hotel since November 22nd, 2012. Hotel has 2 onsite restaurants that offer Azerbaijani and European cuisine. The main restaurant at the first floor is a venue for big celebrations up to 350 people.[2] Members of the Club can park their yachts next to the pier. Since 2016, Baku Yacht Club gives its members an opportunity to watch Formula 1 race at the front row seat from its roof-garden. The Club is able to host sailing sports events in future. Yacht Club Party from Monaco, Cannes and Dubai took place in Baku Yacht Club during Formula 1 weekend in 2016. [3] Also, Baku Yacht Club is connected with Monaco Yacht Club and other yacht clubs such as Costa Smeralda, San Francisko and New York. [4]
