Yoon Hwan Choi (born 18 May 1957) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2009.

LDS Church service[edit]

Choi joined the LDS Church in 1973, at age 16. His parents also joined the LDS Church at the same time, and his father, Dong Hun Choi, was influential in bringing many others into the church. The younger Choi has served in many church positions, including full-time missionary in the church's Korea Busan and Korea Seoul missions, bishop, high councilor, and stake president. Prior to his call to the First Quorum of the Seventy, Choi served as an area seventy and member of the Eighth Quorum of the Seventy in the Asia North Area. He served as a counselor in presidency of the Asia North Area from 2007 to 2011. In 2011 he was appointed as an Assistant Executive Director in the church's Temple Department. From July 2013 to July 2015, Choi served as president of the church's Seattle Washington Mission[1] before beginning another term of service as a counselor in the Asia North Area in August 2015.[2]

Education[edit]

Choi received a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University-Hawaii and holds a master’s degree in business information systems and education from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.

Personal life[edit]

Choi has worked as a university instructor and as a sales manager and director in corporate settings, such as Data General Korea. At the time of his call as a general authority he was working as the regional manager of temporal affairs for the LDS Church in Korea.

From 1977 to 1980 Choi served as a staff sergeant in the South Korean Army.

Choi is married to Koo Bon-kyung, and they are the parents of three children.
