Young Cuba (Spanish: Joven Cuba) was an organization founded by the revolutionary leader Antonio Guiteras Holmes in June 1934. The insurrectional thesis of the group raised the development of the revolutionary war, going through successive phases with the support of an apparatus clandestine force to hit the dictatorial repressive forces in the cities and in the rear.

Its program explained the concrete situation of Cuban society at that time and outlined objectives and tasks of a national, agrarian, democratic and anti-imperialist liberation revolution.

History[edit]

After the self-dissolution of TNT, Young Cuba was founded. The name was the idea of José Miguel Irisarri Gamio, who held important public positions during the One Hundred Days Government. The organization set out to overthrow the Batista-Mendieta government through armed struggle.

Antonio Guiteras died fighting the army forces in El Morrillo when the expedition was betrayed by Captain Carmelo González Arias, who had been commissioned to guarantee the departure of the revolutionaries.

After the death of Guiteras, the members of the Central Executive Committee of Young Cuba agreed to hold street events to demonstrate that Young Cuba would continue to be active, even after the death of its leader.
