The Young Scholars Club (YSC) is an educational and research institution under the supervision of Iran's Ministry of Education. It is responsible for organizing Iranian Scientific Olympiads and preparing Iran's top students for participation in International Scientific Olympiads. From 2010 to 2019, YSC operated as one of two divisions of the National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents and Young Scholars (NODET). In 2022, it was reestablished as an independent organization under the name Young Scholars Club.

History

The Young Scholars Club was founded in September 1994 in Tehran. Its charter was approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution on November 1, 1993.[1] According to the charter, YSC is governed by a board of trustees comprising the Minister of Education, the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, the head of the National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents (NODET), and eight university faculty members. Prior to YSC, an institution named the "National Olympiad Center" was established in 1987 to manage similar activities.

In 2010, YSC merged with NODET following a decision by the Supreme Administrative Council, forming the National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents and Young Scholars.[2] However, in 2019, pursuant to Article 15 of a resolution by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, YSC was revived.[3] A new charter was approved on March 14, 2022, and implemented on August 13, 2022. Under this charter, YSC's board of trustees was aligned with that of NODET, with the YSC president appointed as the deputy secretary of the board and two medal-winning scholars added to the board.[4]
