Early life
Fowlkes grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he began writing music and performing in local talent shows. In 2004, at the age of 15, he was shot in the abdomen during a party incident. He underwent multiple surgeries and spent six months recovering. He has cited the experience as a turning point in both his personal life and artistic journey.[6]
