Yvonne Maria Schäfer (born September 28, 1975), is a German actress, model and producer currently residing in New York City.[1][2]

Early life[edit]

Schäfer was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany. She grew up as the older of two children, with her mother Ingrid and her father Claus-Peter, who was a pilot. As a child, Schäfer began her career as a model and actress and studied ballet, while also doing theatre. She was discovered by a child photographer, who worked for major European catalogue companies. Later, she worked internationally as a model, being represented by agencies in Europe, Asia and South Africa. Her modeling work has included campaigns for designers and sportswear companies such as Ferrari, Gucci, Nike, Wolford, and Triumph. In the 1990s while studying psychology at the Goethe University Frankfurt, she focused more intently on her acting career and studied drama. She works worldwide in films, television, and stage productions.

She has also sung background vocals for various bands, including Joe Cocker and Vanessa Mae. Through her passion and participation in extreme sports, Maxim magazine voted her as the "Action Girl".[citation needed]

After living part-time in Asia and Spain, she moved in 2008 to New York City and founded the film production company YMC Films in NY and in 2012 a second company in Germany, the YMC Entertainment GmbH. In the United States, Schäfer has been successfully working as an actress, producer and executive advisor.[better source needed] [3][1][4] Schäfer is a passionate world-traveler and adventure enthusiast.[5]

Career[edit]

Schäfer co-produced the thriller The Child, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Sebastian Fitzek. The film had an ensemble cast, including Eric Roberts, Sunny Mabrey, Ben Becker, and Dieter Hallervorden, and was released theatrically in 2012.

She starred in the film Forget Me Not, opposite Peter Greene, directed by Federico Castelluccio. The film won international film festivals.[citation needed]

Schäfer played the character Ece, an Arabic mother and wife of a diplomat, in the comedy television pilot Man of the House, directed by Chris Backus, with Mira Sorvino[6] and Fergie.

In the short film Lily of the Feast, she had a scene with Paul Sorvino. Schäfer also worked in the full-length feature film Lily of the Feast opposite David Proval.[3] [1][4]

Further films with Yvonne Maria Schaefer are the comedy feature film Pizza Joint (2016) with Noel Gugliemi,[7] filmed on location in Texas. The two New York TV pilots Outcall (2016), directed by Federico Castelluccio,[8] and Little west 12th Street (2016), directed by Roberto Monicello,[9] and the film Home Stay, with Robert LaSardo[10] and “Berlin I Love You” (2018), with Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren and Hayden Panettiere.[11]

Aside from commercial feature films, Yvonne focuses with her productions on international important topics. Her latest documentary co-productions include Stick 'Em Up! Reloaded (2015), The Cuban Herd (2016,) and Glory Peru (2018).

In addition to her entertainment business, Yvonne is a business consultant and executive advisor for various companies. Since August 2017 Yvonne is Chairman of the Executive Advisory Board at Mercaptor Discoveries pharmaceuticals.[12]
