Zahrisaurus (meaning 'Zahri lizard') is a dubious genus of extinct plesiosaur from the ?Jurassic or ?Late Cretaceous Chiltan Limestone of Pakistan. The type and only species, Zahrisaurus kilmoolai, was named by Malkani (2019).[1]
Discovery and naming
Zahrisaurus is known only from the holotype, MSM-99-K, consisting of a partial torso, with several ribs and vertebrae preserved,[citation needed] which is housed at the Geological Survey of Pakistan Museum in Quetta.
Description
According to Malkani (2019), the vertebrae and ribs of the holotype are well preserved,[citation needed] and the autapomorphies include the double-track vertebral column and the widely spaced ribs, which are spaced roughly 0.5 metres (20 in) to 1 metre (3.3 ft) apart from each other.[citation needed]
Classification
Malkani (2019) did not classify Zahrisaurus kilmoolai further than Plesiosauria.[citation needed]
