Zapala Go develops cloud-based software for the removal, relocation, self storage, freight forwarding, logistics and furniture industries.[1].

History[edit]

Zapala Go was founded in 2015 by Carlos Ferri, who had previously worked for various removal and warehouse management companies in Australia[2]. Ferri is originally from Ribeirao Preto, Brazil, and travelled to Australia in 2009 to study English[3].

In 2014, Ferri began designing a warehouse management solution for his clients to manage their warehouses including capacity, storage boxes, customers and billing. In 2015, this became known as Zapala Go, initially focused on warehouse management and then expanded to include features for the removal, relocation, self-storage, freight forwarding, logistics and furniture industries[4].

In 2016, Zapala Go won a contract with Pedemonts focused on freight forwarding and distribution, then in 2017 with Allied Pickfords Australia and New Zealand to manage inventories for the removal and relocation divisions[5].

Established with 2 employees, the company has increased to 15, and with the latest capital raise it will soon increase the numbers of hires[6].

Operations[edit]

Headquartered in Sydney, the company is also based in Melbourne, Brisbane and Brazil. In late 2018 it is expanding to Singapore, Hong Kong and the U.S., and in 2019 to Europe[7].

Zapala Go helps to provide greater visibility of operations in the removal, relocation, self-storage, freight forwarding, logistics and furniture industries. The solution manages sales, operations, freight, warehouse, stock, profitability and accounting processes. It was designed to reduce paper-based work and ensure information is securely stored in a web-based solution and is available for iOS and Android devices[8].

The software can be used by companies performing local, interstate, intrastate or international work[9].

Awards[edit]

In 2015, Ferri was nominated Start-up Executive of the Year for The CEO Magazine[10]. In 2016, Zapala Go was endorsed by the Australian Furniture Removers Association (AFRA)[11], and in 2018 it was recognised as a finalist in the 2018 Australian Small Business Champion Awards for Information Technology[12]
