Ziv Tamari (born February 18, 1979) is an Israeli musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is the lead guitarist and co-founder of the alternative rock band Perfekt Simple.
Biography[edit]
Ziv Tamari was born in 1979 in Petah Tikva, Israel, and at the age of 12 began playing electric guitar. Tamari played several alternative rock bands and in 2010 moved to Vienna, Austria after the loss of his father. There he studied classical music at the Vienna konservatorium. One of his bands in Vienna, Ubiks Cube, has performed at festivals, including the Donauinsel Festival in Vienna. In addition, Ziv played bass guitar in Spring Awakening. Before he lived in Vienna Tamari lived for a long time in Cape Town, South Africa.
Solo work[edit]
In 2016, Tamari released a mini album The Ancient Land EP and went on tour in Europe. In 2018 he released his full solo album "My Promised Land". The album is a progressive rock and an exotic rock, mostly instrumental and dedicated to the Land of Israel. Each title in this album is dedicated to a part in Israel. The alum played with a huge verity of plucked world instruments. "My Promised Land" was very close to reach the finale nominee for the Grammy awards for world best album category.
Perfekt Simple[edit]
In 2014, Tamari, upon his return to Israel, from Vienna, founded the Perfekt Simple alternative rock band.Tamari is the main songwriter and the leader of the band.
Guitar style and Gear[edit]
Tamari mentions musical influences including Richie Blackmore, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Gilmour, Rush, Iron Maiden and Jimmy Page. Tamari mostly uses the Telecaster Thinline 72' as his main electric guitar, Stratocaster, Jazzmaster, Jaguar and Gibson Les Paul Custom and Gibson Western Country acoustic guitar. Tamari mainly uses vintage effect pedal such as Rat, TS9, TS808 and vintage Boss pedals. For amps Tamari useds Fender Custom Reverb and Marshall JTM45. Tamari`s guitar style contains smart guitar lines and melodies.
In addition to guitar, Tamari also plays many musical instruments such as bass guitar, mandolin, Portuguese guitar, ukulele, banjo, Irish bouzouki, Greek bouzouki, Algerian mandole and more. With his affinity for ethnic musical instruments, Tamari opened a unique musical instrument store from around the world called Musical Spices in Petah Tikva..
Personal life[edit]
In addition to a diploma in classical music from the Vienna konservatorium, Tamari is a B.Sc. in medical biotechnology.
As of 2019, he lives in Petah Tikva.
