Zoe Rosenberg (born June 13, 2002) is an American animal rights activist and the founder of Happy Hen Animal Sanctuary, a California sanctuary for abused and mistreated farmed animals.[1][2]

Early life and career[edit]

Rosenberg was arrested at age 14 on live television during a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game when protesting alleged animal abuse by the meat suppliers for the “Dodgers Dogs” sold at the stadium.[3] She ran onto the field with banners and was apprehended on the pitcher’s mound by security.[4] [5] In 2018 she gave a TEDx Talk about the Dodger Stadium protest.[6]

At age 15, Rosenberg was arrested for chaining herself to the entrance to a slaughterhouse on the grounds of a California State University campus in two separate incidents.[7][8][9]

Rosenberg was arrested again when she was 16 on live television at the 2019 NCAA College Football Championship Game in Levi Stadium when protesting chicken sold by a concession supplier accused of animal abuse.[10][11] Most recently, Rosenberg was arrested on live television at the 2022 NBA playoffs for chaining herself to the basket in protest of the alleged in humane killing of 5.3 million chickens in an Iowa egg factory owned by Glen Taylor, owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA team.[12][13][14][15][16][16]

She is currently a student at University of California, Berkeley where she has conducted protests of the meat suppliers to university dining.[17][18][19]

Honored as Youth Activist of the Year in 2017 at the Animal Rights National Conference (ARNC).[20]
