The Zogu II Government was the eighth ruling government of Albania, in office from 6 January to 31 January 1925. It was headed by Ahmet Zogu, who simultaneously served as Minister of Internal Affairs and acted as Head of State following the collapse of the Fan Noli Government.

This short-lived government was formed after Ahmet Zogu’s return to power with the support of conservative political forces and armed groups, marking the end of the June Revolution period. Its primary objective was the rapid restoration of state authority, internal order, and administrative continuity after months of political instability.

The January 1925 government served as a **transitional cabinet**, paving the way for the proclamation of the Albanian Republic later that month. On 31 January 1925, Albania was formally declared a republic, and Ahmet Zogu was elected as its first President, leading to the formation of a new government.

Historical significance

The Ahmet Zogu Government of January 1925 played a crucial role in Albania’s political transformation. Although brief, it marked the definitive return of Zogu to power and laid the institutional foundations for the republican regime. The consolidation of executive authority during this period enabled the subsequent constitutional changes that reshaped the Albanian state.
