Zynstra is a software company with offices in Bath, UK and Seattle, USA. The company provides solutions that are designed to manage the in-store IT infrastructure of multi-store retailers.[1]

History[edit]

Zynstra was established in 2011 and launched to market in 2013. It was founded by experienced software entrepreneurs. Nick East, Dave Ettle and Brian Buggy had all previously been part of the leadership team of Cramer Systems Ltd, acquired by Amdocs in 2006.

In July 2013, Zynstra launched a hybrid cloud IT solution designed to reinvent how SMBs buy and manage IT.[2]

In September 2013, Zynstra completed $3.8m Series A funding.[3]

In 2014, Zynstra completed $8.4m Series B funding.[4]

In January, 2015, Zynstra expanded into the North American market, following the securing of its first US partners and customers.[5]

In December, 2015, Zynstra launched new range of Cloud Managed Servers.[6]

In April, 2016, Zynstra announced a global agreement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), under which HPE package Zynstra virtualization and cloud management software as a key part of its HPE ProLiant Easy Connect Managed Hybrid Solution.[7]

In October, 2017, Zynstra focused their automated branch IT solutions on the retail industry, launching a range of features, such as Tier 1 PCI-DSS compliance.[8]

In January, 2019, Pilot Flying J announced the roll-out of a transformational store architecture solution through NCR’s Software Defined Store - enabled by Zynstra - creating infrastructure across the entire store to reduce costs and optimize operations for faster innovation.[9] [10]

In that same month, Wawa also adopted Zynstra’s virtualization layer in their point-of-sale platform.[11]

Partnerships[edit]

In 2018 Zynstra significantly expanded its market reach with a global reseller agreement with NCR, under which Zynstra software is a key component of its transformational store architecture solution, ‘NCR Software Defined Store enabled by Zynstra’.[12]

Zynstra has a global OEM agreement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and is recognized as a solution partner for the Retail, ROBO, SMB and Education markets, where an on premise private cloud solution is in high demand. Zynstra’s virtualization and cloud management software can be deployed on the latest HPE ProLiant Gen 10 range of servers.[13]

Investment[edit]

Zynstra is backed by Octopus Ventures, one of Europe’s leading investors in fast-growth companies, focused on backing unusually talented entrepreneurs.[14]
