Mathieu "Zywoo" Herbaut (born 9 November 2000).[1] is a French professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player who currently AWPs for Team Vitality.[2] He has twice been voted player of the year by HLTV, in 2019 and 2020,[3][4] and has therefore often been considered one of the greatest players to touch the game.
Early life[edit]
ZywOo was born on the 9 November 2000. He began by watching his brother play Counter Strike when he was around 7, and later began playing on a shared PC with his brother Thomas, with whom he played 23 LANS until ZywOo began playing with nevermind in 2016[5][6][7].

2017[edit]
Zywoo won his first LAN against well-known opponents in 2017 at the age of 16, beating out players such as Scream and DEVIL for a $9000 prize pool at Pasino Gaming Days.[8] In March, Zywoo joined Wysix, where he was noticed by journalists in eSports media.[9] At Gamers Assembly 2017, Zywoo turned heads with a K/D of 159/47, including that of maLeK, then the EnVyUs coach, who offered ZywOo a place on the team.[10]. However, Zywoo's studies of electrical engineering got in the way and he turned down the offer to finish his education. [9]
2018[edit]
In 2018, Zywoo stepped down from aAa (who had bought out Wysix) once his studies had been completed, moving to Team Vitality to join renowned French players RpK, Happy, apEX and NBK-.[11] He would go on to win his first A-Tier tournament in November of 2018, beating Luminosity to win Dreamhack Atlanta.[12]
2019[edit]
In 2019, Zywoo came into his own on the Tier 1 Stage. Aside from a win at CS_Summit 4 in May and ECS Season 7 in June, Vitality had mediocre showings in the two Majors during the year, Zywoo put up outstanding numbers consistently (a 1.32 HLTV rating) and took away 4 tournament MVPs.[3] Vitality found success in the final event of the year, EPICENTER, beating mousesports in the grand final.[13] Once again, ZywOo won MVP for the tournament and earned HLTV's #1 place for that year, surpassing household names such as S1mple and dev1ce in his first year of Tier 1 play. [3]
2020[edit]
After a sequence of lost grand finals in 2020, ZywOo and Team Vitality found their groove and won two Tier 1 events at the end of the year: IEM Beijing-Haidian in November and the Blast Premier finals in December. ZywOo earned MVP in both of these events, as well as 4 more MVPs in the events that Vitality came second in.[14][15] The spurt of good results at the end of the year led to ZywOo signing a four year contract with the organisation, an event that was broadcast across major buildings in Paris.[16] For the second time in a row, ZywOo was crowned #1 player by HLTV, becoming the third person to do so after coldzera and GeT_RiGhT
