Patrick Mulwana (born April 5, 1995) commonly known by his stage name Alien Skin is a Ugandan rapper and ragga artiste that gained notability for his party type music with a mix of Dancehall and a number of controversies with in the Ugandan Music industry most notably with Pallaso.[1][2][3]
Early life and career
Alien Skin was born in 1995 in the suburb of Kansanga, located in the Makindye division of Kampala. He left school at a young age and began working as a mechanic in Katwe. He also gained experience as a dirt bike mechanic and rider.[4]
In 2022, he released his debut single titled "Emboozi Y'enkoola," which garnered significant attention and became popular on TikTok. Subsequently, he continued to release more songs, including "Sitya Danger," "Akiiki," "Party," and "Tulabise." By 2023, he had amassed a collection of 39 released songs within just eight months since his first single.[5]
His musical releases contributed to his growing popularity within the local music and entertainment scene. It is worth noting that Alien Skin gained attention for his confident and direct responses to media personnel during interviews. Some individuals drew comparisons between his demeanor and that of Bobi Wine during his early career, given their shared background in the ghetto.[6][7][8]
Controversies
In May 2023, a video emerged on social media depicting a confrontation between notable musician Pallaso and Alien Skin. The footage showed Pallaso allegedly striking Alien Skin in the face. Interestingly, despite Alien Skin's reputation as a skilled fighter, he appeared to choose not to retaliate and surrendered during the altercation. This incident sparked debate among music fans in Uganda, with some assigning blame to Alien Skin while others pointed fingers at Pallaso. Coincidentally, Pallaso had an upcoming concert scheduled at Lugogo Cricket Oval around the same time.[9][10][11]
In the aftermath of the altercation, music promoter Abitex persuaded Alien Skin to organize a concert on the same date as Pallaso's, with the aim of rivaling him musically rather than physically. The concert turned out to be a success, selling out and significantly contributing to Alien Skin's growing fame. Shortly after, Alien Skin received a booking for his first international show alongside Pallaso. However, on the day they were scheduled to fly to the UK, Alien Skin refused to travel, citing his unwillingness to share the stage with Pallaso. Eventually, the situation was resolved, and the promoters decided to keep Alien Skin on the bill while dropping Pallaso..[12][13][14][15]
