Šuhajda (Slovak pronunciation: [ʃuhajda]) is a Slovak festive unbaked chocolate truffle in a paper cup. On the top and bottom is formed by a chocolate filling and the middle layer of cup is juicy and rum flavoured.
In Slovakia, šuhajdas are traditionally prepared as Christmas or Easter small desserts.
Recipe[edit]
A fat dissolves over the steam with the chocolate. Melted chocolate is poured on the bottom of cups. The ground walnut filling is then boiled together with sugar and raisins and all this is put in hot milk with butter. Rum essence is added to the mixture. The mixture is placed in cups and poured over the rest of the melted chocolate. Šuhajdas can be decorated with sweets or walnuts.
