Kunji Kalathappam is a recipe widely known in the northern regions of Kerala, India.[1] It is a traditional food item that's eaten for breakfast or as a teatime snack.[2]
Preparation[edit]
The Kunji Kalathappam recipe isn't same as the Kalathappam recipe. For Kunji Kalathappam, ingredients such as Ponni rice, coconut milk, coconut oil, sugar, cashew nuts, water, salt and caraway seeds are needed. The Kunji Kalathappam batter is created using these ingredients. A ladle of the batter is poured into a cheenachatti(wok) to cook Kunji Kalathappam until its bottom becomes light brown. It can be served as a snack for birthday parties, weddings or during festivals such as Eid, Christmas etc. [2]
