Pool 4 of the 1991 Rugby World Cup began on 4 October and concluded on 13 October. The pool was composed by 1991 Rugby World Cup hosts and runners-up of the 1987 Rugby World Cup, France, as well as Fiji, Canada and Romania.

Overview[edit]

Pool 4 produced a major shock as Canada finished second to qualify for the quarter-finals, which remains their best performance in the World Cup. Fiji, as quarter-finalists four years earlier, were expected to occupy that position, but after the upset loss to Canada and a heavy defeat by France, also lost their final match against the unfancied Romanian team.
