The 2005 CPSL season was the 8th season in which Vaughan Shooters participated in the Canadian Professional Soccer League. The club ended their CPSL campaign with their first Eastern Conference title. In the postseason Vaughan reached the CPSL Championship final for the third straight season, and made into the semi-finals in the Open Canada Cup. Jason De Thomasis was Vaughan's top goalscorer with 12 goals in total including the Open Canada Cup tournament.

Summary[edit]

In preparation for the 2005 season the club hired the services of Carmine Isacco. The selection of Isacco as head coach proved successful as he managed to produce a six game undefeated streak followed by ten match undefeated streak. He also produced the club's best offensive and defensive record, and secured the organization's first piece of silverware the Eastern Conference title.[1] The Shooters managed to reach the CPSL Championship final for the third consecutive season, but were defeated by the Oakville Blue Devils.[2] Meanwhile, in the Open Canada Cup Vaughan reached the semifinals before losing to London City SC.[3]

For the annual CPSL All-Star match against Rangers F.C. the Shooters had Justin Phillips represent the club.[4] Vaughan's Desmond Humphrey was voted the MVP, while team owner Tony De Thomasis was given the President of the Year award.[5]
