On August 3, 2021, Senior Police Officer George Gonzalez, of the United States Pentagon Police, was fatally stabbed at Pentagon station near The Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, United States.[1] The suspect was shot by other officers.[2] A federal official identified the suspect as 27-year-old Austin Lanz of Georgia. Lanz had enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October 2012 and was "administratively separated" in November of the same year.[3]
