826 Boston is a Boston-based nonprofit founded in 2008 dedicated to improving student literacy and creative writing skills for traditionally underserved students ages 6-18.[1] The organization is one of eight national chapters managed under the umbrella organization 826 National, offering free tutoring and after school care in the facility. The chapter and has since expanded to in-school tutoring and writing workshops around Boston during school hours.[2]

The Greater Boston Bigfoot Research Institute[edit]

The Greater Boston Bigfoot Research Institute is the themed storefront of 826 Boston's tutoring center, specializing in cryptozoology equipment of a fantastical nature.[3] The store sells Box-and-Stick Traps with other Yeti-hunting supplies, alongside published books written by students of 826 Boston and other students in the 826 National network.[4] The themed storefront was originally formed in 826 Valencia by Dave Eggers to attract students and volunteers to the tutoring center in back, removing stigma from tutoring to facilitate an exciting learning environment.[5]
