A.D. Maddox
AD Maddox was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She was raised in an artistic environment and has been painting most of her life. She apprenticed under Flournoy Holmes and Kamy Deljou of Deljou Art Group. In her 20s she settled in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she began her professional career painting trout and fly fishing art.
Maddox paints in oil on Belgian linen. Her subject matter is flyfishing and wildlife in the style of photorealism. Her work has been featured on the front[1] and back[2][3] covers of Gray's Sporting Journal - as well as in Gray's articles,[4][5] The Fly Shop International Travel Digest[dead link],(2011/2012). L.L.Bean, Inc. Fishing Catalog,[6] The Fly Shop International Travel Digest, The Contemporary Sportsman,[7] The Jackson Hole Catalogue,[8] and in Wild on the Fly,[9] Fiske Feber,[10] On the Fly[11] and American Angler.[12][13]Big Sky Journal published a featured article on her artwork in their 2008 Flyfishing edition,[14] Nashville Arts Magazine[15] featured her in their August 2011 publication.
Motorcycle Monthly ran an article in their Dec/Jan 2007 issue featuring A.D.'s unique method of capturing insects by mounting a wet canvas to her motorcycle and going for an evening ride. She called it Bug Gut art.[16]
Maddox currently resides in Livingston Montana and owns her own gallery.
