History
ATO Architects is a Nigerian architectural firm[1] spanning over three decades of architectural practice in several states of the country. The firm was founded in 1987 by Ayoola Tokunbo Onajide [2] [3] on the back of a winning entry in a design competition for the squash court complex of one of the oldest clubs in Nigeria, Ikoyi Club 1938 [4]. In 1996, it became incorporated as A.T.Onajide Architects Limited and subsequently became ATO Architects Limited. The firm unveiled its new office complex in Lekki, Lagos State in 2014. [5]
Notable Works
Projects executed by the firm include the new Headquarter building for the Nigerian Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)[6] [7] and New Dawn Baptist Church.[8] ATO Architects are the architects on record for the French Diplomatic Campus in Abuja, in collaboration with Richard Schoeller Architects.[9] [10]
A consortium led by the firm is responsible for the design proposal for the Redevelopment of Adeniji Adele Phase I-V in Lagos Central Business District. The project is a major step towards urban renewal from the Lagos State Government in an effort to get rid of slums within the state.[11]
