Dr Fayaz has been elected Ameer ( Chief ) of Jamaat Islami Jammu and Kashmir, The Socio-political-Religious Organization is the largest cadre based party of the valley. In Year 2018 and will remain in the office for next 3 Years.
In February 2019 he was arrested by the government and was lodged under PSA and also Banned from Jamaat e Islami JK for 5 Years
