Dakota Laden
Dakota Laden (born November 18, 1995) is an American filmmaker, producer and Travel Channel reality-TV star on Destination Fear. Aged 7, he started making amateur movies with a home video camera his older sister Chelsea sold him. At age 12, he began sharing his videos on YouTube – which was primarily made up of comedic short films.[1] In 2011, he made five YouTube videos to copy the style of his favorite TV show at the time, “Ghost Adventures,” which earned him a guest appearance on the show after he caught the eye of star Zak Bagans. He is the younger brother of Chelsea Laden.[2]

Laden created his 'shortfilmzz123’ channel in 2008. His most popular video is a Paranormal Activity 4 parody with over 1 million views.[3]
In 2011, Laden was the winner of the Ghost Adventures Mashup contest, which earned him a guess appearance to join the Ghost Adventures Crew during the "Old Charleston Jail" investigation.[4] His videos have appeared on CNN's Ridiculist with Anderson Cooper, MTV's PRANKED, MTV's Ridiculousness, and TRU TV's "It only Hurts when I Laugh".[3][5]
Film and television
Laden has worked for directors as a production assistant on a few Lions Gate movies. He is known for his work on The Last Witch Hunter (2015) and The Divergent Series: Allegiant (simply known as Allegiant) (2016.[6]
Also in 2016, Laden created and appeared in the movie Trail to Terror, a documentary about fear shown in theatres at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota on October 29, 2016.[7]
In 2017, Laden got hired to be a part of the Ghost Adventures Crew operating the camera. He left in 2019 to produced his own reality tv show on the Travel Channel.[8][3]
On October 26, 2019, Destination Fear premiered in the United States on the Travel Channel.[5] The series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on April 29, 2020, with a mid-season premiere on October 24, 2020, at 10/9c on Travel Channel.[9]On February 18, 2021, the cast officially announced a third season, which premiered on July 24, 2021, on Travel Channel and Discovery+.[10] On October 11, 2021, Dakota Laden confirmed via Twitter that the final two episode locations of season 3 were filmed in Ireland,[11] and a week later Discovery+ announced that the remaining episodes of season 3 will premiere on November 6, 2021.[12]
Dakota and his sister Chelsea appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show for the Halloween Special on October 31, 2019.[3] In May 2020, Laden with his Destination Fear crew joined up with the crew from Ghost Nation for Up Close And Paranormal show on the Travel Channel.[13]Also in 2020, Laden and the Destination Fear crew was featured on Travel Channel's Shock Docs: This is Halloween.[14][15] On July 23, 2021, the fear-chasing foursome attended the virtual “Destination Fear: Tales From Route 666” panel at Comic-Con@Home for the first time together to share a look at their terrifying road trip across America venturing inside notoriously haunted locations, including the Ohio State Reformatory, the Villisca Axe Murder House, and Waverly Hills Sanatorium.[11]

Personal life[edit]
Laden was born in Lakeville, Minnesota and attended Lakeville South High School. He is the younger brother of Chelsea Laden, who is an American television creator and retired ice hockey goaltender, who played with the Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).[2]
