Abdullah Muhammad Al-Otaibi (1942 – January 15, 1995) was a Kuwaiti academic, writer, and poet.
He earned his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University in 1977. He worked as a university professor at Kuwait University, starting as a teaching assistant, then becoming an assistant professor, later chairing the Department of Arabic Language, and eventually serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts.[1]
Life
Abdullah Muhammad Al-Otaibi, the poet and literary figure, was born in Kuwait City in 1942.
He completed his early education in Kuwait’s schools before pursuing higher education at Cairo University, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature from the Faculty of Dar Al-Uloom in 1970. In 1974, he earned a Master’s degree in Arabic Literature from the same faculty, with his thesis titled “Poetry of Peace in the Pre-Islamic Era.” In 1977, he received his PhD in Arabic Literature with First Class Honors, also from the Faculty of Dar Al-Uloom, with his dissertation titled “War and Peace in Arabic Poetry from the Early Islamic Period to the End of the Umayyad Era.”
Al-Otaibi worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at Kuwait University.[2][3]
He died in his hometown on January 15, 1995.[1]
