Active Shift Control

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Active Shift Control is a technology allowing the drive motor between the engine and transmission to be able to "synchronize" the difference in the number of revolutions. Drivers of hybrid vehicles with Active Shift Control are able to control the transmission fast and accurately. To overcome the limitations of transmission for hybrid cars, Active Shift Control (ASC) is applied.[1] In addition, it is not necessary to increase the weight of the hybrid vehicle or complicate the structure.

Hybrid vehicles have the engine, drive motor, and automatic transmission, in series. All three help transfer power to the wheels.[2]

ASC has a structure of an added “shift control logic algorithm” to the drive motor of a hybrid car. Using drive motor, the speed of the engine's power (input shaft) and the power through the transmission (output shaft) is monitored up to ”500 times per second”. It rapidly synchronizes the transmission rotation speeds with the engine's, providing a fast and outstanding shifting.[3]

Advantages of Active Shift Control[edit]

  • About 30% improvement in shift speed[4]
  • About 50% improvement in shift consistency
  • Optimized transmission control which makes calculated estimations of road conditions, oil temperature change within the transmission box
