Adam O
Adam O born (September 07, 1988) is a Virgin Islands soca artist from St. Croix in the Caribbean.
Early life
Adam "Adam O" O'Neal was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Denise and David O'Neal. The family relocated to Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands when he was in primary school and there he attended Solid Rock Foundation for Elementary School and Bregado Flax Educational Center for Middle School. When his family relocated to the United States Virgin Islands, he was in high school and attended Central High School. After High School, Adam O joined the United States Marine Corps in 2006. He retired after serving ten years.
Career
During his time in the United States Marine Corps, he performed soca both solo and as the lead singer of "Cool Breeze Band". The band was based in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was stationed at the time. Their fan base consisted heavily of Virgin Islands college students and young adults living in the region[1]. In January 2018, Adam O competed in the Soca Monarch competition in St. Croix and won his first title as the "Jumpy" Soca Monarch during the Crucian Christmas Festival for a song entitled "Sugar Daddy"[2]. In December of 2018, while still living in Atlanta, Georgia, Adam O released "Wine and Dip", one of his first singles as a solo artist [3]. The music video for "Wine and Dip" starred boxer Julius Jackson [4] and by December 2019 it became the most viewed music video, on You Tube, from any Virgin Islands Soca artist in history at the time[5]. The single placed him at the top of the list of Virgin Island Soca Artists[6]. The release was produced by VI producer, Marvelus, and mastered by Stadic Music from Trinidad and Tobago[7].
In 2019, Adam O also won People's Choice Award at the Crucian Christmas Festival[8] for his song "Sexy Dance". This win solidified his place as a breakout star in the region[9]. Later that year, he released the singles "Dey-Ly-Lah" and "Look at Becky" while following a packed schedule for the United States Virgin Islands Carnival[10]. He ended the year by assisting with the Bahamas relief after a devastating hurricane hit the country. He performed at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida as part of a concert to help collect goods to be sent to the country[11]. Other artists to perform that night included Wayne Wonder, Red Rat, Cham, and Spragga Benz. The following month, he performed as a headliner on the Uber Soca Cruise[12]. During the cruise, he performed on the same stages as the veterans of the Soca Music genre including Bunji Garlin, Kes the Band, and Patrice Roberts.
In 2020 he expanded his brand, featured in Liat Airlines' bi-monthly ZiNG Magazine, he provided an interview to the magazine that is provided free to every traveler aboard[13][14]. That same month he signed a deal with Stoli Vodka, the premium spirit distributed through The West Indies Company, as a brand ambassador for their online promotions[15]. Adam O also serves as the brand ambassador for the VI Lottery[16] and VIYA Archived 2020-04-04 at the Wayback Machine, a wireless communication company, owned by the Atlantic Tele-Network, in the Virgin Islands[17].
