In 2019, Aethel acquired the mines of Moncorvo for an undisclosed amount[8][9]. Moncorvo is the largest iron ore deposit in Europe. Aethel will invest 114 million euros to extract 6 million tons of iron ore in the first years[10][11].The mines of Moncorvo have proven reserves of 552 million tons of iron ore that are worth 80 billion USD (58 billion euros). The mine reopens on the 1st of March, 2020[8] and will create more than one thousand jobs[12].
