Agbutun David Abuluya, who performs under the stage name Agbutun or Agbu2n is a Nigerian Afro-soul,[1] recording artist, singer-songwriter.[2]
He made his most prominent appearance at his performance on Nigerian Idol Season 6 in 2021.
Early life and Education[edit]
Agbutun grew up in Plateau State, in a town called Jos. He had his early education in Jos. He grew up singing in church[3] and music was a part of his home and school life especially in secondary school
His interest grew while in secondary school at BSS Gindiri[4]
He moved to Nasarawa State to continue his University studies. There, he explored an expression of musical storytelling and guitar playing with songwriting and dance.
Career[edit]
In 2019, he expanded from contemporary gospel to Afro-Folk sound when he put out his first international collaboration single titled Never[5][6][7] which featured Esther Chungu[8] which so far has a significant reach.
Agbutun was part of the TV show Nigerian Idol,[9] where he rose to the top 17 contestants[10] but was evicted soon after.[11][12]
Agbutun held the bar when Comfort, unfortunately, forgot her lines on stage, she almost let it got to her, luckily, the team had Agbutun.[13]
His personality and charisma had earned him the spot, but unfortunately, he was unable to wow the judges again.[12] Agbutun Agbalaya had also shown lots of promise,[2] but his last individual performance was not good enough.
He is a Lawyer and still active in music. He is also doing a collaborative music event with Doug Kazé and Eric Limani.[14]
Personal life[edit]
Agbutun is a Christian. He is also a lawyer.[15]
