Ajay Singhal (born February 21, 1976) is a bureaucrat working under Communications Ministry of India. He is known for highlighting unauthorize use of satellite spectrum by private players in India. He was nominated for Prime Ministers Award for the year 2014 by Department of Telecom and has secured a National record in Limca Book of 2017.[1]

Ajay Singhal has been recognized as the first person in India to launch a unique mission for satellite spectrum monitoring and got the nickname of 'The Spectrum Man' for leading a gigantic mission of spectrum monitoring at the national level.[2]

June 2018,He was attacked by unknown biker's in Gaziabad District, As per FIR,The biker's snatched his mobile phones and ran away. [3]

Qualification[edit]

He was graduated in Electronics & Communication engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal in 1997.

He revived the International Satellite Monitoring Earth Station located in Jalna district of Maharashtra state of India with limited financial resources by deploying low-cost satellite spectrum monitoring system. It was this system which became instrumental in exposing gross violations in policy guidelines by private players of satellite industry. He secured a national record in Limca Book 2017 for creation of 'Low Cost Satellite Spectrum Monitoring System'.[4]

Career as Enforcement Specialist[edit]

He was selected in Indian Engineering Services in 1997 through Union Public Service Commission at an early age of 22 years. He dedicated himself to ensure good quality of spectrum to millions of end users depending heavily on wireless services. Since 2013, he is fighting against the unauthorized use of satellite spectrum in India. Despite a middle-level bureaucrat, he dared to expose high-profile satellite service providers not adhering to policy guidelines and license conditions.[5]

He is also a member of National Working Group of International Telecommunication Union {Radio} under United Nations.

Awards[edit]

He was awarded the G files Governance Award in 2015.[6]

Memorial Lecture

He was invited by Institution of Engineers India for delivering S K Mitra Memorial Lecture at the onset of 33rd National Convention of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers on November 29, 2017. [1]
